Bike to Work Week is a program of the League of American Bicyclists, the nation’s oldest bicycle advocacy organization. The full week of activities, culminating in Bike to Work Day on Friday, introduces people to bicycle commuting and converts many into regular bicycle commuters. Consider Biking is spearheading Columbus’s first Bike to Work Week—by planning fun and educational activities, sponsoring a corporate outreach program called the Commuter Challenge, and creating this website to coordinate all the plans and information. We, and each of our collaborators/sponsors, hope to see you and your organization participate fully in B2WW ‘08! Check back to this site frequently for updates.
Why bike to work? If you make just one
trip to work by bicycle this week, you are likely to understand and embrace
the benefits of bicycling for transportation. Cycling has a positive impact on your health,
the environment, and your bottom line.
Columbus can easily "Shift 2 by 2012": a 10% transportation mode shift would occur if each of us commuted by bicycle to work just two days per month!
